'Tim Noble & Sue Webster present Bo Ningen' - Venice Biennale, 2011 -Live Performance and animation stage-set

co- curated by James Putnam and Eiko Honda

Tim Noble & Sue Webster specially created animation with live performance by experimental Japanese band Bo Ningen- Gervasuti Foundation- June 1, 2011

Noble & Webster's animation film responds to the long black hair of each band member. To achieve this they took samples of each of the band members' hair to play on the idea of 'hair abstraction'. In response Bo Ningen composed a soundtrack to compliment the film.

Says Webster: "I was totally blown away by Bo Ningen's performance at the 1-2-3-4 Shoreditch Festival, especially their hair which is cut pschedelically into three different layers, like a double fringe and longer at the back. When Tim & I were invited to present them live at the Venice Biennale we immediately volunteered to make a video projection

to be used as a backdrop throughout the live performance and the natural thing to use was their hair."
